WHY CAN'T I CONTROL THE LAW OF ATTRACTION?

The casual experimenter will probably have little success with the
Law of Attraction and the process that is outlined by Jesus in these
pages. If you enter this process with an attitude of, “I guess it will
not hurt to try it,” then you might as well seek some other means to
fulfill your desires.
“No man putteth a piece of new cloth upon an old garment;
else the new piece that filleth it up agreeth not with the old: it
taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
Another parable put he forth.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the bottles
will be marred: the new wine will burst the bottles, and be
spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put
into new bottles; and both are preserved…”
If the inner person is not changed, these new ideas could only
make matters worse. The “new cloth” is the new idea that you can
change your reality and manifest your heart’s desire. The old
garment is your current state of mind, the way you view the world
and the extent to which you can accept a reversal in your thinking.
If you cannot repent, if you cannot change your mind, the new
ideas will only serve to cause you frustration and disappointment.
This will make the “rent,” or tear, worse in the mindset in which you
are clothed. This could lead to a focus upon the negative and as a
result you will attract more of what you do not want or desire.
These types of cautions are frequently neglected and cause many
to doubt the efficacy of the ideas.

The “new wine” in the old bottle can burst the very fabric of your
thought system. This can sour your general outlook on life and lead
you down the road of further desperation. You must put new wine
into “new bottles.” In this, you alter your fundamental way of
thinking and you are, in a sense, “born again” into a new way of
thinking and a new outlook on life.
While this process is not that difficult, it does require focus and
attention on the way you think and your reaction to the events that
occur in your life. As the bottle becomes new, it can accept more
wine. However, the steps in this process are fairly precise and to
attempt shortcuts will result in failure.
Failure is not as negative as the word implies. It is by learning from
our failures that we grow and evolve. Like I said, you are not on a
pre-set time frame. As far as the Universe is concerned, you have
eternity to create your new bottle. It is you who creates a sense of
urgency and all of the stress that goes along with your concern for
tomorrow.
